The Nepal Stock Exchange groups its 280 listed companies into 13 sectors: Hydropower, Microfinance, Commercial banks, Manufacturing and processing, Development banks, Finance, Life insurance, Non-life insurance, Mutual funds, Others, Hotels and tourism, Investment, Trading houses.

Which sector has done best over the last year?
Weighted by market value and adjusted for bonus shares, Commercial banks returned +9.8% over the year to 9 October 2026. That is price only; dividends are not included, and a past year says nothing certain about the next.
Why does a sector hold more listings than companies?
Because the registry counts every listed security, not just shares. Commercial banks, for example, list many debentures alongside their shares. The count on each card is the shares you can buy; the other listings are named on the sector’s page.
